The Forum for Decarbonizing Transport - part of the NDC-Transport Initiative for Asia project – in partnership with Convergence Energy Services Limited is hosting this closed-door workshop to accelerate the government of India’s national plan to electrify 50,000 buses, and build accompanying solar power charging stations, across the country. In addition to decarbonizing public transit in India, the program could create carbon assets tradeable under several emissions trading schemes and monetize carbon credits for a payment security fund to attract more private capital, reducing the cost of public transit and attracting more passengers.
NDC-TIA is a joint program of WRI and six other organizations that looks to enhance low-carbon transport ambition and decarbonization targets in Asia. NITI Aayog is the implementing partner for the India component of the project.
