EMBARQ India has been working in collaboration with the Directorate of Urban Land Transport (DULT), Government of Karnataka in developing methodologies to help design and develop suitable public spaces and built environment around the Metro stations in Bangalore. The Indiranagar project focuses on Indiranagar metro station in particular as a pilot project (for demonstration) to be scaled up across all 40 stations of metro phase 1 alignment and also apply its learnings to other station area proposals prepared by consultants. 
The objective of the accessibility project is to analyse the access to public transit nodes and how they are affected by several ‘Urban Components’ that make up the urban settlements / neighborhoods such as Physical, Economic, Institutional and Intangible. The executive report addresses the project methodology and recommendations for two components of project - the Safe Access design and the Development Control Regulations (DCR) proposal for Indiranagar station. The intent of the Safe Access Project is to show how access to the metro station may be enhanced by providing a safe and pedestrian friendly environment and made a priority in an environment that anticipates increased density and rapid urban transformation. The Development Control Regulations aim to shape the development around the metro station by guiding the density and design of built form to improve street interface thereby creating a more pedestrian friendly and safe environment.
