Prerna is the Lead for Urban Development at WRI India, with nearly 13 years of experience in the fields of research, project management, urban planning, real estate, architecture and academics. Her work lies at the connection of urban planning and sustainable transport. She provides technical inputs on urban development and accessibility projects. She also develops partnerships with the government as well as non-governmental organizations involved in urban development, to ensure on-ground ground change. She works on projects related to transit oriented development (TOD), Land Value Capture, Safe access to Mass Transit, Neighbourhood Improvement Plans, Raahgiri initiative, developing toolkits, informing policy, informing design approach of large developments for adopting sustainable planning approach and capacity building.
Prior to WRI India, Prerna worked for the government, non-governmental organizations and private/corporate organizations. Her portfolio had projects such as Master Plans, Area & Integrated Development Plans, feasibility studies, project formulation and real estate construction projects.
Prerna has a Master’s degree in Planning (Housing) from School of Planning & Architecture, New Delhi, India; a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Nagpur University, India and a diploma in the Principles and Practices of Real Estate from Indian Institute of Real Estate, Pune, India. Besides, she has undertaken several Certificate courses on managing cities.
