As Manager for Communications, Nitya Kaushik’s primary role at WRI India is to manage media relations, facilitate judicious and effective coverage of WRI activities, events, position and viewpoints.
Before joining WRI, Nitya worked with the conservation organization WWF-India, leading communications for their Species and Landscapes program. Her career as a communicator in the social sector began with Greenpeace in 2011. She has also spent a decade as a print journalist in Mumbai – including serving as an environment correspondent in the national daily The Indian Express.
Nitya holds an MA in English Literature from the Mumbai University. She has a penchant for writing and reporting and often contributes news stories/environmental features for external publication. She is a sustainable traveler who enjoys exploring non-touristy small towns and villages across India in her free time.
She lives in Mumbai with her husband, Noel, and her feline flat-mates, Cautious and Mel.
