Akhila Suri is a Senior Project Associate in the Sustainable Cities & Transport Program. Her work is largely focused under the Bloomberg Initiative for Global Road Safety. She is based in Mumbai where she works with city governments to promote and design safer cities for all.
Akhila has previously worked as an urban designer with a private design firm, and with WRI as a consultant. Her work over the past 5 years includes design & development of masterplans and streetscapes for private sector projects, research on TOD in Indian cities and community projects such as the HSR Neighbourhood Improvement Project and Hubli-Dharwad TOD project.
Akhila holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture, Mumbai and a Master’s degree in Urban Design from CEPT University, Ahmedabad. Her undergraduate thesis was nominated for the Charles Correa Gold Medal. She has participated in inter-disciplinary workshops in Auroville, Ahmedabad and Japan.
In her free time, Akhila likes to read and watch movies.
