Consulting on Green Economies
Kathmandu | 23rd-24thJune 2013: EMBARQ India's Project Manager- Capacity Building, Chhavi Dhingra was invited to make the thematic presentation on Transportation at Nepal’s SAWTEE [ South Asia Watch on Trade, Economics and Environment along with International Development Research Centre (IDRC), Canada]. The two- day regional consultation titled “South Asian Consultation on Green Economy” was held in Lalitpur, Kathmandu on 23rd and 24th June 2013. The consultation aimed to identify research agendas on green economy in South Asia and create a network of like-minded individuals and institutions. More than 40 participants from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Canada, India, Korea, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka participated in the event.
In her presentation, Chhavi highlighted the role of transport in a green economy and showcased positive examples from Indian cities where EMBARQ is currently engaged, and which are adopting green transport measures. The audience of this consultation, coming from varied background like energy, tourism, infrastructure and forestry, found EMBARQ’s presentation to be an eye-opener and the Indian examples highly relevant and replicable for other South Asian cities.
