The workshop was aimed at testing and validating training modules developed by EMBARQ India on urban transport institutions.

  • 5th-8th December 2012 | New Delhi: The Ministry of Urban Development invited Amit Bhatt, Strategy Head – Urban Transport to make a presentation on the Bus Karo Plus programme at the 5th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Exhibition 2012 held in New Dehli in December 2012.

    Amit presented the details of EMBARQ India’s Bus Karo Plus programme at the session on Public Bus Transport, which was chaired by S.K. Jagdhari, Vice President, IUT, and included a presentation on Viable City Buses in Small Cities by N. Manjunath Prasad, MD, KSRTC.

  • On 7th November 2012, the President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, inaugurated the Capitol Complex building of Naya Raipur, the new green field city in the state of Chhattisgarh. Situated 7km from Raipur city, Naya Raipur is being developed as a sustainable city, is expected to be home to over 500,000 people by 2031, and will serve as the administrative capital of the state.

Lee was a founder of EMBARQ and dedicated his professional life to the efficient use of energy in mobility. An astrophysicist and a studied musician, Lee was an iconoclast in the field of energy efficiency. This scholarship celebrates his vision and the bold challenges to conventional wisdom that Lee gave to the field.

  • BANGALORE | 29 OCTOBER 2012: Volvo Buses in India announced the winners of the 2012 Volvo Sustainable Mobility Award, naming EMBARQ India and the Indian Urban Space Foundation as joint recipients of the prize at the Sweden-India Nobel Week Seminar, at the Leela Palace in Bangalore today. The award was handed out by M.K. Shankarlinge Gowda, Principal Secretary, Government of Karnataka.

  • 3rd – 5th October 2012, New Delhi: The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and UN-Habitat organised a three-day workshop titled ‘Mobility for Poor: Improving Informal Transport’ in New Delhi from October 3rd to 5th, 2012. The workshop part of the ‘pro-poor mobility component’ of the Global Energy Network for Urban Settlements (GENUS) project of UN-Habitat.
