  • Taxis operators and aggregators discuss the City Taxi Scheme 2015

    On October 31, 2015 WRI India India Sustainable Cities hosted a roundtable that provided a forum for various stakeholders in the Intermediate Public Transport (IPT) Sector to comment on the new City Taxi Scheme 2015. This new policy, submitted in October, was drafted by the Maharashtra state to create a level playing field for black-and-yellow taxis, taxis fleets and aggregators. The scheme proposed that online taxi aggregators such as Uber, Ola, and TaxiForSure be regulated under the Motor Vehicles Act.

  • PARIS (December 2, 2015) – The 100 Resilient Cities (100RC) initiative today announced new signatories to the 10% Resilience Pledge, with a total of 19 mayors and city leaders committing to dedicate 10 percent of their city's annual budget toward resilience-building activities throughout their term in office. The announcement was made during the Jumpstarting Resilience in Urban Areas event at COP21, co-organized by the World Resources Institute.

  • Local officials met to identify strategic interventions for managing land use, transport and accessibility

    WRI India and V Ravichandar, the Chairman and Managing Director of Feedback Business Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd., hosted a meeting with Bangalore city officials Karnataka Chief Minister, S Siddaramiah, and Minister for Bangalore Development and Town Planning, KJ George on November 17th, 2015. The forum, held in Vidhana Soudha, Bangalore convened local decision makers to discuss strategies for addressing the urban mobility challenges faced by the city.
